Train With Us

No armor. No experience. Just show up.

Getting started takes two steps. Sign the waiver online, then come to a Sunday practice. That is it.

Step 1 — Sign The Liability Waiver

Everyone who steps onto the training floor signs a waiver first. Fill it out below before your first session so you are not doing paperwork in the parking lot. It takes about two minutes and you will get a signed copy emailed to you.

Step 2 — Come To Practice

Sunday mornings, 9:00 – 11:00 AM

Body Shop Gymnasium
345 N. Eric Rd., Suite 500
Palatine, IL 60067

What to bring

  • Comfortable workout clothes — you will sweat
  • An athletic protector. Non-negotiable.
  • Water. More than you think you need.

What to expect

Your first session is conditioning and fundamentals, out of armor. Footwork, how to hold a weapon, how to block. You will not be thrown into a melee on day one and nobody is going to test you.

Come watch first if you would rather. Spectators are welcome at any practice — show up, stand off to the side, and see whether this looks like something you want.

Common Questions

Do I need my own armor?

No. Most new fighters train for months before buying anything. We have loaner gear, and when you are ready to build a harness we will help you spend your money well instead of twice.

Do I need to be in shape?

You need to be willing to get in shape. Everyone here started somewhere and the training itself does most of the work. Show up consistently and your conditioning will catch up.

Is this safe?

It is a full-contact combat sport, so no, it is not risk free — and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What it is, is heavily regulated. Armor coverage, weapon weight, and edge geometry all get inspected. Referees stop fights. Illegal strikes get you removed. People walk away with bruises far more often than anything worse.

Do I have to compete?

Not at all. Plenty of people train for the workout and the company and never enter a tournament. If you do want to compete, we will get you ready.
